Multi award winning Ocean Rafting visits the “Wild Side” of the Whitsunday Islands, the uninhabited islands with beautiful natural scenery brimming with marine, bird and animal life. There are two exciting tour options, the Northern Exposure and Southern Lights. Each Ocean Rafting day offers three days in one, including an exhilarating ride to Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, pristine snorkelling reefs and guided Whitsunday Island National Parks walks. Ocean Rafting is the only tour to have direct access to the stunning and iconic Hill Inlet beach, and special snorkel sites at Hook Island and Border Island ensure a memorable underwater experience.
The semi rigid inflatable vessels are super fast allowing guests to experience a fun ride, adventure and education amongst the natural beauty of the Whitsundays. 32 passengers at most allows for personal snorkelling lessons and the pleasure of a small group. A buffet style lunch is served at the beach with plenty of time to swim in the turquoise ocean or just relax on the silica white sand.
Ocean Rafting has been operating since 1997 and is proud to have special permits allowing its vessels to visit protected areas in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The Skipper and Eco Host will ensure guests have a fun filled adventure and personalised service with snorkel lessons and a guided National Park walk in the Whitsunday Islands. Tours depart from Abell Point Marina North and courtesy coach pickups are included.
Tour and Package Options
Northern Exposure: The Northern Exposure eco adventure is a favourite amongst avid snorkellers because it is the only Whitsunday adventure which includes two different snorkel destinations. Not only that, but it includes a visit to the stunning beach at Hill Inlet, north end of Whitehaven Beach, and a guided National Park walk to the lookout above the silica sand of Whitehaven. Guests explore the restricted area of beautiful Hill Inlet at Whitehaven Beach. The main difference between Ocean Rafting’s two tours is that the Northern Exposure offers more snorkelling time and the Southern Lights has more beach time.
Southern Lights: The Southern Lights tour visits both the northern and southern ends of Whitehaven Beach. Enjoy at least two hours relaxing on the world famous white silica sand, a guided walk to Hill Inlet Lookout and experience the Southern Whitehaven Lookout, enjoying breathtaking views of Pentecost Island and the tropical waters of the Whitsundays. Snorkel for over an hour at Border Island, Dumbell Island or one of our “secret” snorkel spots, enjoying the amazing hard and soft corals of the fringing reefs. The main difference between Ocean Rafting’s two tours is that the Southern Lights has more beach time and the Northern Exposure offers more snorkelling time.
Double Deal package: Ocean Rafting offers a double deal for guests wanting to choose both cruises and experience more adventure for less, travelling on both the Northern Exposure and Southern Lights tours over two days (need not be consecutive).
Two Trips Deal package: Ocean Rafting offers a special package with sister company, Ocean Safari, including one day on Ocean Rafting in the Whitsundays and another day experiencing Ocean Safari in Cape Tribulation.
Chill and Thrill Package: This package combines two of the Whitsundays’ best day tours…Ocean Rafting and the Tallship Derwent Hunter.
Tour Inclusions
Both the Northern Exposure and Southern Lights tours include a visit to Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, guided National Park walks, inner fringing coral reef snorkelling, personalised snorkel instruction, use of snorkel equipment and flotation devices, reef and island naturalist talks, courtesy bus pick up and drop off and cake for afternoon tea.
Schedule
Tours depart daily from Abell Point Marina North, Airlie Beach (next to Sorrento Restaurant & Bar). Daydream Island pickups also available.
Northern Exposure tour: Departs 8.45am, returns 3.30pm (check in 7.45am)
Southern Lights tour: Departs 10.00am, returns 4.30pm (check in 9.00am)

Private charters are available, with five vessels able to carry up to 142 guests.
All fares are inclusive of Marine Park fees.
Sites are weather and tide permitting.
Although good health and positive attitude are essential, guests do not need any prior experience to partake in any activities.
